about

Welcome to the first installment of Mudd Buddha vs. RedTide. This project consists of mostly unreleased songs from RedTide's latter years, before we disbanded. Each song is also accompanied with a corresponding remix done by Mudd Buddha. As previously stated, most of these songs were unreleased or only exist on burned CDs or cassette tapes. Some were only performed live, and never officially recorded at all. In the interest of presenting the original songs in their best light, Mudd and I have re-recorded, mixed, and mastered them in our current studio. In addition, Mudd's remixes have radically reimagined these songs, giving them a totally different feel, in a very good way. All of this first wave of songs were done in 2005 or later when the group had whittled down to myself, 2%, and Lazy. Being that they were not all officially released, I don't have exact dates for when each one was written. I wanted to revisit these songs because, at the time, I was in a transitional phase. I was already starting to think about concepts for my Time Pieces trilogy so lyrically these songs became somewhat prototypical of what I was going to do in my next body of work. Anyone familiar with Time Pieces might hear phrases that I borrowed from some of these songs in the trilogy. For right now, installment one consists of the songs: Free Appropriation, Beta Version / Bait Aversion, and Some Cats. There will be an Installment Two featuring more unreleased songs and remixes from other producers. For more detailed descriptions of each song, please check each song's individual page. I hope you enjoy.
